Feeling baseline shifty?
When you’re working on an Addressed Envelope, you can use the Alternate Font feature in PrintingPress Extreme 6.0 to use two different fonts for different parts of the address. Maybe you want to use a script font for the name and a block or serif font for the address, which you can learn how to do in the April 2010 Extreme Tip. But script fonts and block or serif fonts often have much different line spacing, so the address can look like it’s hanging off in space far below the name as shown in the example below.

You can easily tighten up the spacing to bring the different fonts together using the Baseline Shift control in the Character palette in the Text palette group. First you need to click on the placeholder address to select it and then specify whether you want to change the main text or the alternate text. In this case, we want to bring the serif font closer to the script font, so we made sure to select main text in the Alternate Font Options combo box.

Next, click in the Baseline Shift field and use your mouse wheel to increase the value until the text is as close as you would like it to be. We set the Baseline Shift to 8 for this month’s Extreme Fall Stationery design.

Then when you print names and addresses from your Mailing List, everything will be formatted perfectly as shown below.
