Mother may I?
Our Mothers give us so much, it’s fun to splurge and spoil Mom on Mother’s Day. Ever since you were young, your Mom’s favorite Mother’s Day gifts were probably the ones that you made her yourself. Why mess with tradition? Make your Mom some fabulous personalized stationery this Mother’s Day and she’ll know how much you care. We created A7 flat and A2 folded versions of each design so you can choose your favorite or give her some of each. Print Mom’s return address on the back flap of the envelope for a professional look.

For a Mom with classic taste, try our PrintingPress design. We added a simple green fleur de lis to our Key Lime Pie stationery. We added the name beneath the fleur de lis using the Alyssa Black Tie font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings in the same green as the image. We used a Reply type envelope to print the return address, and chose Print backs only in the print window to ignore the front of the envelope. We lined the envelopes in Ecru.
If your Mom likes a clean, modern look, our PrintingPress Platinum design might be just the thing. We started with White cards and White envelopes lined in Saffron for a bright, summery look. We added the name in saffron in all lowercase letters in the upper left corner of the card using the Times New Roman font. We added a saffron circle as a floating image to the bottom right corner of the card. Next we used a floating text box to add Mom’s first initial in off-white above the saffron circle. For tips on using off-white text with PrintingPress Platinum, see the April 2004 issue. We added the initial to the back flap of the envelopes above the return address as well.
Our PrintingPress Extreme 5.0 design is perfect for any Mom who likes the bright jewel tones that are so hot in fashion this spring. We added a custom border to the White A7 flat card, set the border’s shape to Line (Top), and filled the border with a bold new green geometric pattern. We added Mom’s name in a floating text box using the Benjamin Caps font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings. Since the design bleeds all the way to the edge of the card, we used our printer’s borderless printing feature to print the flat card. We filled the background of the A2 folded note card with the same pattern, leaving a 0.25 inch margin on the custom background. We added a custom border in the same green to define the edge of the pattern. We turned off the Make white transparent setting so that the white background of the text box is opaque. We added a double line custom border to the text box and used the Sample Color tool to match the border and text color to the green used in the pattern. For tips on using the Sample Color tool, review the Extreme Tip from the February 2006 issue. We lined the Magenta envelopes in Clover.

Sipping pretty
With the warmer weather approaching, outdoor entertaining is on the horizon. If you want to entertain but don’t want to commit to cooking a full meal, why not throw a cocktail party? You can host it outdoors or in, you can include kids and serve Shirley Temples, and everyone is bound to have fun! Our flirty invitations are perfect to get the party started.
Our invitation has two personalities! The front of the card begins with a simple pink, orange and brown paisley on a White A7 card. We added the invitation text in brown using the Times New Roman font with the UPPERCASE text style. We set the right and left margins of the invitation to 1.25 inches and set the horizontal alignment to Justify Text. We left the RSVP center aligned and a few lines below the main invitation text. To make the invitation fun and flirty, we used PrintingPress Extreme 5.0’s custom background feature to fill the entire background of the back of the invitation with a new twirly paisley design. For tips on using this background elsewhere in your designs, see this month’s Extreme Tip. Since the paisley pattern runs all the way to the edge of the card, we used our printer’s borderless printing feature to print the backs of the invitation. We lined the Chocolate envelopes in Deep Pink for a kiss of color.

Baby boom
At Mountaincow, we’re becoming new Aunts and Uncles by the dozen as new babies arrive en masse this Spring. Since we’ve got babies on the brain, we designed some adorable new birth announcements. Whether you’re announcing a boy or a girl, we’ve got great designs for you that are cute beyond cute.
Our PrintingPress design features an adorable pink tricycle atop a White 3.25 x 4.75 inch custom cut card. We added the baby’s name in pink and the rest of the invitation text in grey all in the Times New Roman font using all lowercase letters. We used a double-stick tape gun to adhere the announcement to a Slate 4-bar card. Paired with Blush envelopes lined in Pink Lemonade, it’s girly cuteness at it's best. If girly is not for you, the project includes baby blue and fire engine red tricycles as well.
A baby’s layette is strung on a clothesline across the top of our PrintingPress Platinum design. We used pale blues, greens and yellows for the itty bitty clothing. We used a floating text box to add baby’s first initial to the onesie using the Girls are Weird font from the Easy Invitations Bonus Content CD. We added the announcement text in grey using the Times New Roman font and added the baby’s name in blue using the Girls are Weird font. Since the clothesline runs all the way to the edge of the card, we used our printer’s borderless printing feature to print onto the White 4-bar card. We lined the Powder Blue envelopes in Celery. The project includes a pink and purple layette as well as a pastel rainbow version.
Tiny animals dangle from a baby’s mobile across the top of our PrintingPress Extreme 5.0 design. We used a custom background to fill the entire background of the card in brown. Next we added silhouettes of a rocking horse, monkey, elephant and giraffe in different pastel hues and then used PrintingPress Extreme’s shape tool to create the string that ties each item to the invisible mobile. We set the shape’s shape to Line (Left), set the border to one pixel and then used the Sample Color tool to match the border line color to the silhouette color. Next we added the word “BABY” dangling from the mobile as well. We wrote each letter using the Ryan font and filled each letter in a new baby dot pattern that uses the same hues as the silhouettes. We added the baby’s name in green using the Noodles font from Fonts & Graphics 3 and added the rest of the text in ecru using the Benjamin Caps font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings. Since the brown background bleeds all the way to the edge of the card, we used our printer’s borderless printing feature to print the card. We lined the Ecru envelopes in Celery.

From this day forward
Our love of wedding invitations never ends, and we have some fabulous new designs to prove it. With the warmer weather comes more weddings, and we want to make sure to provide you with as many design choices as possible. This month’s installment includes elegant as well as festive invitations. We created matching thank you notes to help you let all your wedding guests know how much you appreciate their gifts.
For a traditional wedding, try our PrintingPress design. We added an ivory tile inspired by antique tiled ceilings to the top of the Ecru 4.75 x 6.75 inch custom cut card. We added the invitation text in brown using the Benjamin Caps font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings. We added the bride and groom’s names using the Alyssa font, also from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings. We used a double-stick tape gun to adhere the invitation to a Chocolate A7 card. We repeated the same design on the response card and thank you note and lined the Ecru envelopes in Chocolate.
Our PrintingPress Platinum design features a Metallic Aqua Pocket Folder in the A8 Landscape (pointed flap) size. We strung festive paper lanterns in aqua, orange and green across the top of the Matte White A7 invitation card. We added the invitation text in gray using the Benjamin Caps font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings and aligned the text to the right. We used floating text boxes to add the bride and groom’s names in aqua using the Alyssa Afternoon font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings. We used another floating text box to join the names with an orange ampersand using the Noodles font from Fonts & Graphics 3. We used a double-stick tape gun to adhere the invitation directly to the Pocket Folder. We added dangling lanterns to the White A7 directions card and to the Matte White 4-bar response card and inserted them into the pocket along with the Metallic Aqua response envelope. We used the 4-up feature to print four seals onto Matte White 4 x 6 inch custom cut cards and then trimmed them down to 3 x 2 inches using a rotary trimmer. We used a double-stick tape gun to adhere each seal directly to the Pocket Folder. We used our printer’s borderless printing feature to print all of the cards. If you do not have a laser printer, try our Matte Mandarin Orange envelopes instead.
For a traditional invitation with a modern color palette, try our PrintingPress Extreme 5.0 design. We used the custom background tool to fill the background of a White A7 card with a new aqua embroidered flower pattern. We added the invitation text in a floating text box with the background color set to orange. We added the invitation text in white using the Benjamin Caps font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings and added the bride and groom’s names in white using the Isabelle font from Fonts & Graphics 2. We added a double line border to the text box with the border shape set to Ticket (Landscape). Since the flower pattern runs all the way to the edge of the card, we used our printer’s borderless printing feature. We added a single flower to the bottom left corner of the vertical White 4-bar response card. We lined the Mandarin Orange envelopes in Aqua.

Copycat
You may love one of our designs, but you want to use a folded note card instead of a flat card, or you want to use a border or background that we added to a card on a floating text box. PrintingPress Extreme 5.0 makes it easy to copy and paste borders and backgrounds in a snap.
To copy a border, click on the object that has the border, or click in the main text area of the card that has the border. Then click on the Copy Border button in the toolbar or choose Stationery Border, Copy Stationery Border in the Design menu. The border is now available to apply to any design elements you like: stationery, images, floating text boxes, monograms or shapes. Just click on the item to which you would like to add the border and then click on the Paste Border button in the toolbar or choose Stationery Border, Paste Stationery Border in the Design menu.

You can do the exact same thing with a background; it will even copy repeated text. Just click on the design element that uses the background you would like to copy and click on the Copy Background button in the toolbar or choose Stationery Background, Copy Stationery Background in the Design menu. Then click on the item to which you would like to add the background and click on the Paste Background button or choose Stationery Background, Paste Stationery Background in the Design menu. In the example below, we copied the background from the Extreme Stationery for Mom project and pasted it into the Extreme Wedding Invitation project.
